This fantastic vintage hand carved wooden jaguar, black panther, head was made by indigenous artisans in the footprint of the former Mayan empire.
The date of creation is unknown, possibly 1970's or earlier, generally classified as folk art. The wood is worn with age. It is almost life-size and painted black with white teeth, making it slightly terrifying.
This piece is in great vintage condition with some scratches and scrapes adding to it's rugged charm. It was carved from a single solid piece of wood. Tree rings can even be seen from the back of the jaguar head.
