This awesome maritime hourglass was issued by the National Maritime Historical Society in limited edition in the 1990's and manufactured by the Franklin Mint.
It is a fully functional re-creation, crafted in precision cast metal, glass and gold-plated accents and embellished with a fish sculpture crafted in pewter and plated in gold. The glass ends of the hourglass are embellished with astronomical constellations, signs of the zodiac.
The sand is divided into half hour increments, with the entire instrument being rotated on the free standing wood base.
