Sold Out - Ultra Rare, Treasures of the Aztecs Silver Medals with 24 Karat Gold - These First Edition medals were issued in limited edition by Museo Nacional de Antropologia/ The National Museum of Anthropology, Mexico City, in 1976. The medals were minted by the Franklin Mint de Mexico in solid sterling silver vignetted in 24 karat gold.
The twelve medals are forty five millimeters each and each weigh one ounce, for a total of twelve oz of sterling silver content. The medals are in excellent condition with little sign of age and are presented in their original holders and frame. The frame and matting are in great condition as well with a minor abrasion to the back left side and middle of the matting.
The backs of the medals display the name of the Aztec archaeological site at which each cultural treasure pictured was found, and the name given to the treasure itself. A set was issued for each great pre-Columbian civilization, the Maya, Aztec, and Inca. All are extremely rare, with this one potentially being the rarest. I've never seen another one like it.
