To honor the United States of America's 200th anniversary, each of the 13 original states issued an official Bicentennial medal.
These medals were made available as a complete collection by The Bicentennial Council of the Thirteen Original States. The official medals were minted by both Medallic Art Co. and the Franklin Mint, the two leading private commemorative mints at the time, in different display versions.
This is the sterling silver medal version stamped by the Franklin Mint. It was created in 1975 and is in mint condition. This set includes thirteen sterling silver medals displayed in a wooden frame with navy blue matting. Each medal has 300 grains of silver and is about the size of an American silver dollar. It comes with a descriptive booklet telling the story of each medal, a sleeve to store the frame when not displayed on a wall, and a certificate of authenticity.
